Design — UI Guidelines
Style rules teams can ship against.
Living UI guidelines that stop design drift — so the third designer makes the same call as the first, six months from now.
What are UI guidelines, and who actually uses them?
UI guidelines at S3A Technologies are a living, versioned document codifying how your interface behaves — colour, type, spacing, layout, components, and explicit do’s and don’ts. Their purpose is to stop design drift, so the third designer to touch a product makes the same call the first one did, six months later. We work in four stages. Audit inventories existing patterns, components and inconsistencies across every screen and surface currently shipping. Codify writes the actual rules — tokens, type scale, spacing, components, layout grids — each with worked examples rather than abstract description. Publish ships them as a living document your designers, product managers and engineers can search, link to and reference daily. Maintain adds quarterly reviews, deprecation logs and version notes so the guidelines neither calcify nor rot. Guidelines differ from a design system in that they document the rules; a design system also ships the components.
What this is
A shared source of truth.
UI guidelines codify how your interface behaves — colour, type, spacing, layout, components, do’s and don’ts. We build them as a living, versioned document so every team that touches the product knows the rules before they break them.
