What is a design system, and what does it include?
A design system at S3A Technologies is the contract between your designers and your engineers — design tokens, components, patterns and documentation, all versioned together. It is built for organisations running multiple products or multiple teams, where the same button has quietly been rebuilt five times. Our process runs in four stages. Audit inventories every current component, finds duplicates, retires what should not exist and surfaces the gaps. Plan defines design tokens, the theming model, a component taxonomy and a release plan teams can sequence around. Build produces design and code together, handling states, props, accessibility, motion and dark mode once rather than per-product. Document delivers worked examples, do’s and don’ts, a change-log and a governance model for what comes next. The output is not a component library alone but the rules and release process that keep it accurate as products and teams change.
